Cremation
urns have changed from the old fashioned wood box urn or a typical urn shaped
vessel into works of art that can be displayed in a home and that have the
appearance, design and workmanship of a fine decorating accessory. Lost-wax casting is a popular medium for sculpture urns and the art form
generally depicts a modern or contemporary theme. Cloisonne and ceramics are creative approaches to remembering
loved ones and these urns can range from companion size down to infant or
keepsake urns. Consumers selecting cremation urns that have been crafted using
modern techniques have the added advantage of adding a personal reminder of
their loved one to their home’s décor.

Cremation Art
Selecting
a cremation painting is another artistic
alternative to memorializing. Full
of vibrant color and personality, these paintings actually contain a small portion
of the cremated ashes of the loved one.
A small gathering kit is sent either to the consumer or the funeral home
to collect a small amount of the cremated ash.
The ashes are them mixed in with the paint and an earth friendly
compound and the design is painted onto the canvas. Each painting is then preserved and sealed with a coat of
polyurethane. Cremation paintings are typically framed with a muted black picture
frame and include a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
